Foundée sous le nom de Saudi Arabian Airlinesavec le don d'un douglas DC-3 offer au roi Abdul Aziz par le président Américain Franklin D. Roosevelt. En avril 1972, la compagnie adopta le nom d'opération Saudia. Le 16 juillet 1998, la compagnie décida d'abandonner le nom Saudia pour revenir à celui de Saudi Arabian Airlines.

Founded as Saudi Arabian Airlines with the gift of a Douglas DC-3 presented to King Abdul Aziz in 1945 by the then US President Franklin D Roosevelt. On 1 April 1972 the airline adopted the Saudia operating name. A new corporate identity was launched on 16 July 1998, with the airline deciding to drop the Saudia name and revert to Saudi Arabian Airlines
