Crée le 8 juin 1953 par la fusion de la Société Air Atlas et d' Air Maroc et initialement connue comme Cherifienne de Transports Aériens (CGTA). La compagnie fut rebaptisée Royal Air Maroc après l'indépendance du pays en 1957.
