Fondée en 1926. Un réseau réduit de lignes fut maintenu pendant la guerre  jusqu'en 1945 quand la compagnie fur mise en liquidiation. En 1953, Luftag fut fondée à Cologne en 1953 et plus tard elle fut renommée Lufthansa. Elle acquit Condor Flugdienst qui devint sa filiale charter en 1960. En 1988, elle fonda Viva Air en collaboration avec Iberia. En 1995 elle absorba German Cargo Services et la rebaptisa Lufthansa Cargo.

Founded in Berlin in 1926. A reduced network was maintaiend during the war until 1945 when the company went into liquidation. In 1953, Luftag was founded in Cologne and later renamed Lufthansa. It took over Condor Flugdienst that became its charter arm in 1960. In 1988, it founded Viva Air as a joint venture with Iberia. In 1995, it absorbed German Cargo Services wich was renamed Lufthansa Cargo.
